The Croft – A Stunning New Outdoor Classroom for Bowles

In the woods at Bowles is a beautiful new outdoor classroom, a woodland sculpture with a living roof. A gentle place to shelter from the rain, tell stories, relive adventures, learn bushcraft or just enjoy a warm fire. The Croft, built in memory of Tony Croft, an instructor at Bowles, was finished in July 2011. Built by Bowles staff, primarily from locally sourced materials including chestnut, ash and hazel (as well as a pond liner and recycled carpet). It is now ready for use by groups visiting Bowles. A month of rain and sun has created the vibrant green ‘hat’ you can see in some of the photos.
