Bowles is a friendly, professional and quality conscious outdoor education centre. Established as a charity in 1961, thousands of young people now experience the benefits of a course at Bowles every year.
Our highly experienced and qualified staff team will help you to get the most out of your visit so that young people have fun, stay stafe and they learn. Our purpose built accommodation will ensure everyone gets the rest they need. Our friendly and efficient admin team will make the booking process smooth and simple, and our home cooked food will ensure everyone is healthy and happy during their visit.
Throw in the uniquely beautiful activity site, boasting two ski slopes, a natural sandstone rock face and an indoor heated pool, and Bowles truly becomes the place for young people to have experiences that will last their whole lives.
The Benefits of a course at Bowles
Adventurous outdoor activities help young people to become more aware of their strengths and abilities. This frequently leads to increased self-confidence with lasting results - translating into higher classroom attainment and more rounded young people who are better prepared for their lives ahead.
Learning to manage their own safety in real situations through problem solving and challenging outdoor activities helps to develop responsibility and maturity.
Living and working closely with each other in a residential situation helps to develop understanding and awareness of other people.
Bowles has modern accommodation for 128 spread over two floors in our dormitory or in the more salubrious lodge. We can cater for most groups including primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, youth groups and community organisations.
If you are considering a course at our fantastic outdoor activity centre, come and meet us and have a look around. You are welcome to visit any time. We are easy to find, on the Kent Sussex border, an hour South of Central London, 10 minutes from Tunbridge Wells.

Don't ask us - what do our visitors think?
We send all our year 6 kids and they just grow. They come back different people. Peter Wilson, Headmaster, Old Bexley
Bowles instructors did really well to communicate so effectively with our children who all have speech and language difficulties. The technical instruction was excellents. I couldn’t imagine anywhere being more suitable, or any staff more accommodating. Thank you! Oakley School
Collectively and without exception the staff at Bowles Outdoor Education Centre make our visit special, safe and exciting. Thank you for your care and attention to all of us.
