Climbing & Abseiling
Summary
Climbing
A session of rock climbing is not just about reaching the top, it is about personal challenge and the confidence and self-belief this brings. All the participants will learn the importance of teamwork as they learn to hold each other’s ropes under the careful supervision of a qualified instructor.
A typical session will include some low level climbing to help build confidence and introduce the children to teamwork. Later on they will begin to take responsibility for each other’s safety, learning to manage each other’s climbing ropes as they encourage their teammates to reach the top of our natural sandstone cliff.

Summary
Harrisons Bouldering
A hybrid activity somewhere between climbing, and caving, this activity keeps the whole group moving and occupied throughout the whole session. The children will be guided through, down, under, round, up and over the natural sandstone outcrops and Harrisons Rocks (only 5minutes drive from Bowles). They will slide down muddy banks and squeeze through cracks, climb over boulders and move through tunnels. It is great for both personal and team development. For an added thrill we often do this as an eveing activity in the dark!

Summary
Abseiling
Abseiling comes from a German word meaning ‘off or down rope’. We abseil on a steep ramp (suitable for wheelchairs) and on the natural cliffs, protecting the soft sandstone with carpets! Abseiling can help children build self-confidence and self-belief and is uniquely memorable. Unfortunately the children can only abseil one at the time so this is not a good choice for the winter or more ‘active’ groups.
